BOARD ELECTIONS:
Two new representatives were elected to the Sunblest Farms board at the October meeting:
Melody Steppe and Brian Schenck.
Board assignments for 2006 are:
President: Dave Kohl
Vice president: Melody Steppe
Secretary: Andrea Davis
Treasurer: Tamra Vincent
FINANCES:
Available cash decreased after paying end-of-season pool expenses. About $4,400 is still
owed the association in past dues and fines. Board members are still trying to collect the
money in small-claims court. If all goes as planned, income should exceed expenses by
about $2,000 at the end of the year, which will help pay the association’s bills until 2006
dues are paid.
Board members approved replacing the pool pay phone with a limited-use business line that
will be less expensive to maintain year-round.
A proposed budget for 2006 would cover expenses without raising dues. There is little wiggle
room, though, since revenue would exceed expenses by only $100. Board members will look
for additional opportunities to reduce expenses and avoid a dues increase. The budget will
be voted on at the December meeting.
GROUNDS:
An electrician has examined the inoperable light at the neighborhood’s 126th Street
entrance and determined the problem is faulty wiring underneath the road surface. With
repair costs estimated at $2,000, the board is exploring other options.
POOL:
Indianapolis Pool Management Co. will continue to manage the association pool in 2006
under the terms of a two-year contract signed last year. An IPM official has agreed to attend
the next board meeting to discuss performance expectations for next summer.
What's news
Minute by minutes (highlights from recent board meetings)
Obey the Golden Rule. Sunblest Farms is a family-friendly neighborhood, and it’s up to all
of us to keep our environment comfortable for everyone. Please be respectful of one
another, as you would expect others to respect you.
Selling your house? Don’t forget to call Treasurer Tamra Vincent at 915-9212 at least two
weeks before closing to get a statement saying you are up to date on your dues. We try to
accommodate last-minute requests, but as volunteers we can’t always make miracles
happen.
New to the neighborhood? Once you get settled, contact Secretary Andrea Davis at 915-
1156 (or sunblestfarms@yahoo.com) to get a resident questionnaire. The association uses
the information for a neighborhood directory and to keep our records current.
Be a good neighbor. Fall is upon us, and winter isn’t far behind. Why not clean up your
property and remove debris before the snow flies? Remember, Sunblest Farms residents
are subject to certain restrictions established when the neighborhood was developed,
including a requirement that lots be maintained “in such a manner as to prevent them from
becoming unsightly.” That means keeping trim and shutters painted, storing garbage cans
and building materials out of sight, and paying attention to little things like the condition of
your mailbox. All of these things not only affect the value of your property, but everyone else’
s as well. Please do what you can to keep the neighborhood looking nice.
Lose your keys at or near the pool? A set of keys has been found in the pool mailbox. To
claim them, call Treasurer Tamra Vincent at 915-9212 with a description.
